Obituary of R. L. Allen as published on page 6 of "The Camilla Enterprise" 
dated 25 Feb 1960.  Camilla, Georgia.   
R. L. Allen, of Rt. 2, Camilla, died at his residence at an early hour Sunday 
morning, February 21st, after an illness of several months.  He had been a 
resident of Mitchell County all his life, a farmer, and was 62 years old at the 
time of his death.  He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Allen, of 
Mitchell County.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Valda Poitevent Allen; two 
brothers, W. P. Allen of Rt. 2 Camilla, and O. P. Allen of Whigham; three 
sisters, Mrs. G. P. Williams of Camilla, Mrs. W. S. Boynton of Pelham, and Mrs. 
Henry Cumbie of Rt. 1 Camilla.  Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 
2:00 P. M. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rev. Ira E. Crump and Rev. Alvin 
Bush officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery.  Ivey Funeral Home of 
Bainbridge was in charge.  Pallbearers included Towson Allen William Cumbie, 
Steve Boynton, Lester Rogers, Loyd Poitevint, Roland Boutwell.  Honorary escort 
was performed by Edward Poitevint, Wiley Burnum, Joe Bostick, Charlie Glover, 
Ehly Blackerby, Eugene Gibson, Levy Harrell, Charlie Will Harrell, Gordon Dean, 
Jessie Josey, Romie Foister, Elton Bostick, Jessie Poitevint and W. L. Boutwell.
