Rivers Bailey as written on page 1B of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 3 Nov 1960. Camilla, Georgia. Bringing shock, sorrow and grief to relatives and friends was the unexpected death around midnight last Wednesday evening of Mrs. Elmer S. Bailey of Camilla. She had complained of a headache for a day or two but had gone about her regular duties and had viewed television that evening before retiring for bed. The cerebral attack came a little more than an hour before her death at Mitchell County Hospital where she was taken. Her husband, suffering from a heart ailment and now retired from his duties of the past thirty-five years as linotype operator at The Camilla Enterprise, was hospitalized following her death but was able to return home early this week. Funeral services for Mrs. Bailey, age 47, the former Miss Dorothy Rivers, were held Friday afternoon at three o'clock at the Camilla Methodist Church. The Rev. Orman Sloat, pastor, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Edgar T. Davis, Jr. Interment followed in Oakview Cemetery with Bramlett Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. She was born in Mitchell County, daughter of the late Henry Burch Rivers and his wife, Emily Wilson Rivers. She was a member fo the Camilla Methodist Church and took an active part in church affairs. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Cal Jones of Camilla; a son, Billy Bailey of Atlanta; three brothers, H. H. Rivers of Miami, Fla.; J. W. Rivers of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and W. B. Rivers of Wiesbaden, Germany; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kate Maxwell of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. C. J. Strickland and Mrs. L. R. Joiner, both of Pelham, Mrs. W. A. Phelps and Mrs. W. L Eidson, both of Camilla; two grandchildren; and her stepmother, Mrs. H. B. Rivers of Camilla.
