Camilla, Georgia. Robert Lee (Doc) Bryant died Monday, August 22nd, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. C. Miller, in Pelham. He died at about 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon following an illness of about seven weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, August 24th, at Macedonia Baptist Church with interment afterwards in the Cairo Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home of Cairo had charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Kenneth Bryant, Cecil L. Brinkley, Olen Bryant, Bobby Bryant, Stanley Bloodworth and Roger Brinkley. Honorary pallbearers were George Harvey, Horace Harvey, Winslow Dekle, Johnny Taylor, A. U. Wilder, Leon Wilder and Jack McCelland. He was born September 8, 1888, in Grady County where he lived all his life. He was the son of John Lawson and Polly Barfield Bryant, His wife was Cora Mae Folds who died in 1932 and is buried in the Collins Cemetery. He was later married to Mrs. Katie D. Brinkley who passed away in September of 1958. He was a farmer and member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include five (only three are listed) sons, Robert Bryant, J. L. Bryant, both of Cairo, Joseph M. Bryant of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Miller of Pelham, and Mrs. Davis Dixon of Tampa, Fla.; four step-sons, J. D. Brinkley of Moultrie, Lawson Brinkley of Pelham, Lloyd Brinkley, also of Pelham, the Rev. Hugh Lee Brinkley of Thomasville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Irene Cumbie of Semmes, Ala., Mrs. Wylene Bloodworth of Pelham; two sisters, Mrs. Varina Cooper of Cairo, and Mrs. Ora Helton of Cairo; twenty-five grandchildren.
