Boynton, 93, beloved long time resident of Flint community and one of Mitchell County's oldest citizens, died in Americus City Hospital Tuesday, July 26 at 3:45 o'clock. Mr. Boynton's death followed a long period of ill health. He had been in Americus since last November at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jasper Groover, and entered the hospital a week ago. News of his death brought sorrow to hosts of friends throughout this county and section. Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Flint Baptist Church where Mr. Boynton had been a faithful member for more than a half century. Services were conducted by the Rev. C. L. Robinson of Baconton. Interment was in Oakview cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boynton was born in Green Pond, S. C., July 18, 1862. He moved to Mitchell County when a boy of thirteen and had lived here for eighty years. He had engaged in the farming profession for a long number of years until his retirement due to ill health. He was united in marriage to the former Miss Martha Collins who survives him after a fifty-seven years union. His eldest son, the Rev. W. S. Boynton, preceded him in death two months ago. Surviving are his wife, one son, C. S. Boynton of Sylvester, ten daughters, Mrs. D. W. Adams of Auburndale, Fla.; Mrs. John Johnson of Orum, N. C.; Mrs. A. B. Strand of Danridge, Tenn.; Mrs. S. B. Sneaden of Wilmington, N. C.; Mrs. Eddie Stewart of Atlanta; Mrs. Jasper Groover of Americus; Miss Elsie Boynton of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs Ray Lee of Concord, Ga.; Mrs. Bill Jones of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Mrs. Jack Dempsey of Memphis, Tenn.; also 32 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
