Branch, sixty-four year old businessman and farmer, a former county tax collector and father of Mitchell County's Clerk of the Courts James H. Branch, died at his home in Sale City. He had been in ill health for the past year or more. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the residence. The Rev. William H. McClellan, assisted by the Rev. N. H. Williams and the Rev. J. B. Gresham, officiated. Interment was in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla. Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Muggridge, Jr., E. J. Vann, III, Dr. Clyde Brock, E. B. Beasley, Otis L. King, N. N. Marchant, Frank Jones, A. R. Baggs, Drewry Ledbetter, Sr., and W. A. West. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, James H. Branch of Camilla; two daughters, Mrs. John L. Goldschmeding of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Mary Armstrong of Dallas, Tx.; five brothers, James A. Branch of Atlanta; W. W. Branch of Adel; W. H. Branch of Valdosta; E. H. Branch of Lake City, Fla.; Joe Branch of Sale City; three grandchildren, Alex Branch of Camilla, Sally and John Goldschmeding of Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. Branch was born in Pelham, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Horton Branch. The family later moved to the Branch home place near Sale City on the Moultrie highway. In early manhood he was united in marriage with the former Miss Sara Maxwell of Amsterdam, Ga. Mr. Branch served several terms as a County Commissioner and was Mitchell County Tax Collector from 1931 to 1936. He was a member of the Sale City Methodist Church.
