Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, October13 at First Baptist Church in Camilla with interment in Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Rick Williams will officiate. Born September 12, 1912 in Mitchell County, Mr. Collins was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla. He was the son of the late William Bryant Collins, Sr. and Annie Laura Calhoun Collins and was preceded in death by a brother, William Bryant Collins, Jr. Mr. Collins began farming at a young age, becoming a pioneer in using a tractor to plant and grow crops. He attained a patent for a harvester of Spanish peanuts, but abandoned production upon the predominance of the runner type. During World War II he worked in construction of Defense projects in the tri-state area, building houses locally, and construction of rural electric distribution systems. After retiring from farming, he ran a small fleet of trucks to haul various farm products. In the early 1980’s Mr. Collins was an active advocate and promoter of the possibility to make ethanol from farm crops, prompting the application by the city of Camilla for federal funding of a local plant, that however met with no success. In January 2007, his efforts were recognized when a road was given his name upon ground breaking at the FUEL Ethanol plant in Mitchell County. Survivors include his wife, Virginia G. Collins of Camilla; two daughters, Sara Beth Morrell of Camilla and Ellen Collins of Albany; a son, Robert L. Collins & wife Carol of Marietta; a sister, Sara Willis of Marietta; five grandchildren, Todd Morrell and wife, Susan, Diane Bush, Dana Bush Taulli and husband Grant, Lucia Coglin, and Ross Bush; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday, October 12 at Parker Bramlett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O.
