Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Camilla for seventy-eight year old Charles B. Cross who suffered a heart attack last Thursday shortly after receiving word of the death of his only son in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Cross died late Thursday night at Mitchell County Hospital. His wife became similarly ill after receiving the death message last Thursday and she still remains in the hospital in serious condition. Officiating ministers were the pastor, Rev. Charles Duncan, and the Rev. N. H. Williams and the Rev. Louis Spivey. Interment followed in Pelham Cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Linton Cross, age 42, of Tampa, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Cross, died suddenly Wednesday night of a heart attack and the parents were preparing to leave Thursday for Tampa when they both became ill. Mr. Cross was the son of the late Thomas J. and Louisa West Cross, pioneer citizens of Mitchell County. In early life he was engaged in business as a plumber. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla and the Woodmen of The World. Besides his wife, Mr. Cross is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John T. Herring of Camilla and Mrs. I. O. Spence of Pelham; three brothers, W. D. Cross of Camilla, J. R. Cross of Albany and Thomas B. Cross of Atlanta.
