Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Clarendon Davis, beloved Mitchell County matron, passed away Sunday, July 27th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Douglas Hall, in Thomasville, following an illness of six weeks. Funeral services were held Monday, July 28th, at 3:00 P. M., from the Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev. W. E. Pledger, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Thomasville, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Faison, a great- grandson of the deceased, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Colquitt County and Rev. W. H. Rittenhouse, pastor of Hopeful Baptist Church. Interment was in the Hopeful cemetery with Dekle Funeral Home of Thomasville, in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were L. F. Taylor, Jr., W. L. and Olin Sharp, Warren L. Davis, Jr., J. F. Harmon, Jr., and Emory Shirah. Mrs. Davis was the former Miss Minnie Sharp, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Sharp. She was born January 8, 1873, in Mitchell County and lived her entire life here. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Warren L. Davis of Camilla, and H. W. Davis of Jefferson, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Harmon and Mrs. Edward Taylor, both of Camilla, Mrs. J. T. Jackson and Mrs. Douglas Hall, both of Thomasville; three sisters, Mrs. Will Dawson of Dade City, Fla,, Mrs. Taylor NeSmith of Camilla, and Mrs. John Cross of Bainbridge; one brother, John Sharp of Camilla; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Among relatives and friends coming from a distance to attend the funeral were Messers Nat Hancock, Jack S. Davidson, L. J. Lyle, Joe A. Johnson and Morris M. Bryan, all of Jefferson, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Battaglia of Houston, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Cox and daughter Melissa of Atlanta; Mrs. Vince Polk, Marvin, Harry and Mary Polk, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Albert L. Shackleford of Wauchula, Fla.; and Mrs. Roscoe Tate, Mrs. Sterling Gurey and Mrs. Horace Register, all of Dade City, Fla.
