Camilla, Georgia. The immortal spirit of this venerable old gentlemen took its departure from its earthly tenement last Monday, 28 Jan 1907, at 3:15 PM, and while his death was not expected, having been in very feeble health for some time and critically ill for the last two weeks, yet his friends were sorely grieved when it became known that father, grandfather and friend had passed away. Mr. Palmer was in his 89th year and was one of Mitchell county's oldest citizens and possibly no other was more respected that "Uncle Daniel Palmer" as he was familiarly known throughout this entire section. The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, 29 Jan 1907, afternoon, conducted by Rev B. W. Davis pastor of the Baptist church of which the deceased was a member, after which the remains were carried to the new cemetery (Oakview) for burial, followed by one of the longest funeral processions ever seen in Camilla, over 60 conveyances being in line. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, two sons, Messrs J. B. and J. H. Palmer and two daughters, Mrs. G. W. Baggs and Mrs. Mittie Spence, besides a host of other relatives to mourn his death. To the bereaved ones of both these excellent families the ENTERPRISE extends sincere condolence.
