Mr. Ed Crosby, a prominent citizen of this county, died last Monday evening at his home in east Mitchell after an illness that was followed by a general break- down due to old age. Mr. Crosby was 88 years of age. He was one of the pioneers in the development of this county and lived to see many remarkable changes in the one-time forests and swamps of this section. He was a prosperous farmer, before his age compelled him to retire, and was regarded as a substantial citizen. He leaves three children, Mr. J.P. Crosby of Albany, and Mr. Sam Crosby and Mrs. Henry Mansfield of this county. The funeral took place at Shady Grove Church last Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. H.N. Burnett.
