Adams as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 20 Sep 1918. The death of Mr. L. H. Adams at his home early Saturday, 14 Sep 1918, morning caused a general sorrow throughout Camilla and surrounding community. He had been sinking for two or three days prior to his death and his family and loved ones about the bedside when the end came peacefully at 7:00 AM Saturday morning. Mr. Adams had his first stroke of paralysis more than a year ago and about two months ago he had several light paralytic attacks from which he never rallied. Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday morning, 15 Sep 1918, at 10:30 AM. Rev J. I. D. Miller and Rev T. G. Woodward conducted the services. A large number of relatives and friends followed the body to the last resting place at Oakview cemetery. Those acting as pallbearers were Messrs. B. C. Boynton, G. D. Collins, J. E. Collins, M. O. Davis, G. C. Smith and B. H. Jones. Mr. Adams was in his 78th year when called from earthly scenes to the great beyond. He was born and reared in this county. In 1861 he went out with the boys in gray and fought bravely during the four years of the war. He was married 47 years ago to Miss Mattie Cochran, who with their children survives him. The deceased had been a life long member of the Baptist church and a more earnest Christian could hardly be found than Mr. Adams. Religion and church affairs always came first with him and faithfulness to the church has been constantly remarked on by his friends. He was a member of the old China Grove church near Flint since more than fifty years ago; the church later changed to Flint Baptist church. He was a deacon in that church for a long number of years and leader of its affairs. The church sustains a great loss in his death. The decease is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. W. M. Acree, Miss Gertrude Adams, Mrs. J. I. D. Miller, Mrs. D. B. B. Collins, Mrs. W. F. Stoudenmire and Mr. W. C. Adams. Two sisters, Mrs. Lula Fouce of South Carolina and Mrs. Martha Thompson of near Pelham, Ga. and one brother, Mr. D. W. Adams of Flint also survive him. The entire community feel with the bereaved family the loss of this good man and extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing ones.
