Luckey as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 10 Jul 1914. Camilla, Georgia. Mr. W.H. Luckey died last Sunday night at a sanitarium in Cairo after having just undergone an operation for appendicitis. The operation was performed about 4:00 PM and he died at 11:00 PM. The news of his death was a considerable shock to his many friends here, many o f whom did not know of the serious nature of his illness. He had suffered from the trouble for several months and every effort had been made to avoid the operation. He was taken to Dr. Walker's sanitarium by his brother, J.L. Luckey, but his condition was so serious that he did not survive long after the surgery. His remains were brought back to Mt. Zion Church on Monday where Rev H.N. Burnett conducted services. Mr. Luckey was 53 years old. He was regarded as one of the county's most upright citizens. He was in charge of the county poor farm for the last 15-18 years. This was conducted on the farm of Mr. R.V. Bush at the time of Mr. Luckey's death where he was residing at the time." The deceased is survived by his wife and four daughters; Mrs. Albert Thornton and Mrs. Albert Mock of Baconton, and Mrs. Albert Shiver and Miss Lillie Mae Luckey of Camilla. He is also survived by one brother, Mr. J.L. Luckey, and five sisters, Mrs. Bob Morgan, Mrs. Anna Jane Palmer, Miss Winnie Luckey, Mrs. Lila Palmer, and Mrs. Lloyd Shiver.
