The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 11, at 2 p.m., at Avalon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim Steffen will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla. A native of Mitchell County, Ga., Mrs. Smith was a 1944 graduate of Pelham High School, and was married over 53 years. Mrs. Smith has lived in Albany since 1956, where she was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church. While a member of this church, Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bands of Gold Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. Also, she taught Sunday School. Survivors are her husband, James E. Smith of Albany; two sons, Ed Smith of Brunswick and Joe Smith of Atlanta; one daughter, Carol Wade of Rome:;two brothers, Joseph E. Stratford of Portland, Maine and W. Richard Stratford of Albany; one sister, Polly Stratford Smith of Bremen; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William J. and Lucile Black Stratford, her brother, Herman J. Stratford and sister Elizabeth Stratford DesRosier.
