B. Collins, Sr. Passes Monday William Bryant Collins, Sr., retired Mitchell County farmer and prominent and beloved citizen of Flint community, died at his home Monday night at 8 o’clock after a days illness. Weakened with infirmities of old age, he had not been feeling well for some time but was able to attend services Sunday at Flint Baptist Church. During the day he became ill. News of his quiet passing brought sorrow to numerous friends throughout the county. Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Bramlett Funeral Home. Services were conducted by the Rev. Burt Newsome, pastor of Flint Baptist Church. Pallbearers were C. S. Boynton, Flint; Jasper Groover, Americus; Robert G. Collins, Boston; Judson Hall, Albany; John Collins, Cotton and Jack Stratford, Albany. Interment was in the family plot in Oakview cemetery. Mr. Collins was born March 24, 1871, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Collins, at the old family home place at Flint where generations of the Collins family have lived for more than a hundred years and where he lived his entire life. A hard working farmer, loyal friend and neighbor, Mr. Collins will be remembered for his many fine rugged traits of character handed down by his forebears, pioneer settlers of this section. His wife the former Annie Laurie Calhoun, preceded him in death in March, 1947. Surviving are his two sons, W. B. Collins, Jr., and Lewis B. Collins, both of the Flint community and one daughter, Mrs. Ted Willis of Atlanta. His two sisters surviving are Mrs. S.C. Boynton, Flint and Mrs. Hattie Black, Long Beach, Calif.
