S. Ivey Passes Away Prominent Mitchell Countian Succumbs Suddenly of Old Trouble - Funeral last Saturday Mr. Len S. Ivey, a prominent farmer and one of the county’s best known and most highly respected citizens, died suddenly at his country home a few miles north of Camilla last Friday evening, November 11, 1911. He had long been a sufferer of a serious malady, but recently had been much improved, and was thought to be winning, temporarily at least, in his fight against the disease, and had, for several months, been able to look after the business of his plantation. His friends, thus encouraged over his condition, were sadly shocked when they learned that he had breathed his last just before 6 o’clock Friday morning. He was taken with the last illness Thursday morning, but his family were not alarmed at his condition up until a very short while before the end came. The attack that carried him off came suddenly and was of short duration. Mr. Ivey was 58 years of age and was born and reared in this county. With the exception of two or three years spent in Baker County, he has lived here all of his life. He was married to Miss Ida Taylor in Baker County about the year 1881. He leaves a widow and eight children, Mrs. Robert Rice of Arlington, Mrs. G. A. Burson of Liveoak Community, Mrs. W. M. Bradley, Miss Madge Ivey, and four sons, the oldest of whom is Cecil, 16 years of age, besides several brothers and sisters, only one of whom, Mrs. J. B. (Rebecca) Acree, is a resident of this county. The funeral services were conducted at the grave in the new cemetery (Oakview) last Saturday morning by the Rev. B. W. Davis of the Baptist Church, and a large number of friends and sorrowing relatives gathered there to pay their last respects to the dead. Pallbearers were Mr. C. A. Crocker, Mr. Alfred Joiner, Mr. W. E. Holton, Mr. Howard Holton, Mr. W. H. Bullard, Mr. J. A. Moore, and Mr. Roy Stripling. .
