Obituary of Pearl Ledbetter Luke as written on page 6 of "The Camilla 
Enterprise" dated 27 Mar 1959.  Camilla, Georgia.  
Mrs. D. P. Luke, Sr., age 74, widow of a prominent Camilla physician who 
preceded her in death in 1940, died at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla 
early Friday morning, March 20th, following several years illness at the 
hospital.  Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 22, at the 
graveside in Oakview Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. Louis M. Spivey, 
pastor of Camilla Methodist Church, and Rev. N. H. Williams, retired, 
officiating.  Pallbearers were Elmore Floyd, E. J. Vann, III, Drewry Ledbetter, 
Jr., Joe T. Spence, Delton Harden, James Holton, Laurier Hackett, Jim 
Williford, Jack Ledbetter and Robert Culpepper, Jr.  Bramlett Funeral Home of 
Camilla had charge of arrangements. Mrs. Luke was born in Baker County November 
1, 1884, the daughter of the late H. A. Ledbetter and Annie Lark Ledbetter.  
She attended and graduated from Cox College in Atlanta.  She moved to Camilla 
soon after her marriage to the late Dr. David Pickett Luke, Sr.  She was a 
member of the Camilla Methodist Church.  Survivors include two sons, David P. 
Luke, Jr., and Drewry Luke, both of Camilla; two daughters, Mrs. Phil Flaxman 
of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mrs. Frank Cassidy of Baltimore, Maryland; 
two brothers, J. D. Ledbetter, Sr., of Camilla, and A. B. Ledbetter of Newton; 
seven grandchildren.
