Mrs. G. W. She had been losing her eyesight in recent months but otherwise apparently was enjoying good health and kept active in community life up until she went to Atlanta for examination. Prayers of the entire community were with her during her last several days as news of her illness became known. Many of her wide family connection were in Atlanta with her during the last long hours. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three-thirty o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Camilla. The pastor, the Rev. Charles Duncan, and Rev. T. M. Underwood of Pelham officiated. Flowers evidencing love and sympathy for the bereaved family were banked in every available space around the pulpit and singing comforting hymns was a quartet of men in which the deceased's husband, Bill Mercer, usually sings. The quartet was composed of Tom Collins, Brackett Hardy, Bill Drennon, and J. Wayne Robertson. Following services at the church, attended by a large concourse of friends, interment took place in Oakview Cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Forming an honorary escort at the funeral services were the ladies of the Fidelis Class of the First Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were all nephews and included Otis Keadle, Edward Keadle, Fredrick Keadle and Luke Keadle, all of Thomasville, and Lee West, Lamar Shirah, Robert Sawyer and Gene Keadle. Daughter of the late W. W. and Clara Ada Moroney Keadle, pioneer citizens of Mitchell County. Mrs. Mercer was the former Ida Reba Keadle. She was reared in Hopeful community and moved to Camilla a number of years ago. Active in many phases of youth work, Mrs. Mercer was chosen last year as senior mother to accompany the MCHS graduates on their annual trip to New York. She was head counselor of the Girl's Auxiliary of the First Baptist Church, teacher in the Primary Department of the Sunday School, and served as band mother in both the local elementary and high school. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Camilla Garden Clubs, Inc., served as a leader in the Adult Baptist Training Union, held different offices in the Woman's Missionary Society, was active in the Camilla PTA. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church where she took active part along with her husband and other members of her family. She was also a member and active in the Cherokee Garden Club.
