Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for John Dudley McClain, Sr., age 61, of Pelham, were held Sunday afternoon, November 1, at 2:30 o'clock at Hand Memorial Methodist Church in Pelham with the Rev. Chester Gilbert, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the Pelham Cemetery with Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham in charge of funeral arrangements. Active pallbearers wer Lewis Crosby, Ashley Huey, Winton Powell, Charlie Pollock, Ernest Howze, John Collins, Jr. An honorary escort was formed by Fletcher Taylor, Ray Kelly, Roy Smith, Leland Cooper, L. J. Powell, Bert Rumble, Leon Gandy, Dr. A. C. Harris, Hubert Tucker, K. H. Stough, M. W. Turner, Ernest Williams, Dr. W. C. Arwood, J. C. Calhoun, Robert Chambers, J. B. Davis, Dalton Gandy, A. B. Garrard, M. A. Hancock, L. D. Hand, O. S. Harris, N. J. Hodges, H. J. Jennings, H. L. McElvey, Gilbert Lewis and Henry Jones. Mr McClain died Friday after a short illness. He was married to the former Miss Alma Rackley of Statesboro, and was the son of the late Dr. John Wyatt and Lula deGraffenreid McClain. He was a member of the board of stewards of Hand Memorial Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion. He was rural mail carrier. Survivors besides his wife include a son, John D. McClain, Jr., USAF, Hawaii; three daughters, Mrs. Robert C. White of New Hartford, N. Y., Miss Louise McClain of Dublin and Miss Miriam McClain of Statesboro and Pelham; two brothers, Frank McClain of Pelham and Charlie Gordon of Guntersville, Ala; four sisters, Mrs. Spencer Harrison of Pelham, Mrs. F. D. Vallely and Miss Carolyn McClain, both of Atlanta, and Capt. Elizabeth McClain of Ft. Eustis, Va.; and two grandchildren.
