Dean Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon, June 19, at three o'clock at Prosperity Church for Mrs. Sarah M. Dean, who passed away early in the morning of the same day at the home of her son, Mr. I.C. Dean, on Shotwell Street. The deceased was ill for a three week period prior to her death. The services were conducted by the Rev. Joseph Davis, of Hartsfield Georgia. The body was laid to rest in Prosperity Cemetery. Mrs. Dean was eighty years of age and was born near Hopeful, in Mitchell County, in 1855 and before her marriage was Miss Sarah Horne. After her marriage to Mr. Dean, they came to Decatur County to make their home. Her entire sixty one years of married life was spent in this county where she was an active worker in the church, being a member of Prosperity Church and a Primitive Baptist, and here she raised a large family. Two daugh- ters, Mrs. Mattie Brock, of Jackson- ville, Florida and Mrs. Bertha Dol- lar, of the Mount Pleasant commun- ity, and six sons, Riley, Bob, Ben, I.C., D.D., all of Bainbridge, and Lonnie Dean, of Jacksonville, sur- vive her. Sixty-four living grand- children and twenty-six great grand- children also survive her, besides her husband, Mr. James Richard Dean. Active pallbearers were her grand sons, Robert, Vernon, Earl, Jessie Wayne, Alton and Gaulding Dean. J.J.
