Palmer as written on page 2 of "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 17 Apr 1959. Camilla, Georgia. Lynwood G. Palmer, 19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Palmer, of Rt. 3, Pelham, was killed some time after midnight Saturday, April 11, when his automobile left Georgia Highway 262, some three miles west of Pelham and rammed into a sewer pipe, State Highway Patrolmen from the Thomasville Patrol Post reported. Troopers Bentley and Downing investigated the accident and said Palmer apparently went to sleep at the wheel and his car left the highway on the left side. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14th, at 4 p.m., at Mispah Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. W. J. Stanford, officiating, assisted by Elder Earl Childs. Interment was in the church cemetery with Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham in charge. Active pallbearers were Jim Lawrence, Jr., Jerome Salter, R. L. Scarborough, Lester Scarborough, Tommy Adams and Jimmy Horne. Honorary pallbearers were Wendell Howell, Merrill Palmer, Winford Williams, Leon Davis, Lawrence Hampton, Ed Anderson. Palmer, a native of Mitchell County was employed as a textile worker at the Coats and Clark Mill in Pelham. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, John O. Palmer of Fort George Meade, Md.; a sister, Mrs. James Ricks of Pelham and his grandmother, Mrs. J. T. Gray of Camilla.
