Obituary of Mary Catherine West as written on  pages 1 and 12 of "The Camilla 
Enterprise" dated 31 Oct 1958.  Camilla, Georgia.  
Mrs. King D. Phelps died at the age of 81 at 9:45 A. M. yesterday morning at 
Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla after a lengthy illness.  Funeral services 
will be held this afternoon, Friday, October 31, at three o'clock at the Sale 
City Baptist Church.  Mrs. Phelps was a member of this church.  Officiating 
will be the Rev. James C. Bell, assisted by Rev. N. H. Williams.  Interment 
will follow in Sale City cemetery.  The body will layin state at the church for 
one hour before time for funeral services.  Bramlett Funeral  Home of Camilla 
has charge of funeral arrangements.  Mrs. Phelps was the former Miss Catherine 
West, daughter of the late Gibson West and Elva Strickland West, pioneer 
residents of Mitchell County.  Mrs. Phelps was born in Mitchell County on 
August __, 1877 and spent her entire life here.  Survivors include her husband, 
King D. Phelps; three sons, Arlie, Carl and Billy Phelps of Camilla; five 
daughters, Mrs. Novella Sasser of Sale City, Mrs. A. B. Peters of Albany, Mrs. 
JohnTurner of Albany, Mrs. E. S. Davis of Baconton, and Mrs. Neil Palmer of 
Camilla.  Surviving also are sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-
grandchildren.
