Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Alice Asenath Rigsby, widow of the late Rev. James Taylor Rigsby, prominent Mitchell County Baptist minister for a number of years, died Sunday, December 13th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. B. Beasley, in the Pebble City community. Death came at the age of 82 and following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at three o'clock at the Pebble City Baptist Church with the Rev. Hunt in charge, assisted by Rev. E. V. Yates, Jr. Interment was in the church cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers and they were A. T. Rigsby, Jr., Jerry Beasley, Loraine Rigsby, Richard Hatcher, Jimmy and Harry Rigsby. An honorary escort was formed and included Truett Thompson, Theo Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Heyward Snipes, Lee Turner, Lucious Johnson, Joe Johnson, Jack Harrell, Hays Grogan, John Akridge, Walter Gurley and Jim Cox. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla had charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Rigsby was born in Mitchell County on January 26, 1877, daughter of the late Willis H. and Margaret Tucker Burnett. She was married to the late James Taylor Rigsby who preceded her in death some years ago. She is survived by three sons, A. T. Rigsby, Sr., Judson Rigsby, Sr., both of Camilla and James A. Rigsby, Sr. of Albany; four daughters, Mrs. L. R. Thomas of Meigs, Mrs. W. B. Beasley and Mrs. John Sullivan, both of Camilla and Mrs. J. B. Hatcher of Doerun; one brother, J. P. Burnett of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Laura Burtz of Pelham; twenty-seven grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.
