Mrs. G. B. Sawyer died Saturday night at 10:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. B. Davis, in Panama City, Fla., following an illness of several months. She had just recently gone to Panama City to visit Mrs. Davis when her condition worsened and the end came. Her body was brought back to her home in Mitchell County and funeral services were held Monday morning, April 18, at Hopeful Baptist Church. The pastor, Rev. Rittenhouse, officiated. The Branchville choir sang such comforting hymns as Be Thou Near and The Christians Goodnight. Grandsons of Mrs. Sawyer serving as pallbearers were Harry, Clarence, Norman, Gerald and Weyman Sawyer and Bill Davis. Interment was in the family plot in the church cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sawyer, the former Miss Lenora June Hays, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Dwight Hays. She was born June 21, 1873, being 82 years of age when death came. In 1892 she was married to the late Green Byron Sawyer who preceded her in death a short time ago. They established a hospitable Christian home where they reared a large family of children. They had rounded out around sixty years of happy married life when Mr. Sawyer died in February. Mrs. Sawyer was a lifetime member of Hopeful Baptist Church and lived a life of inspiration to others. Surviving are her four daughters, Mrs. C. B. Davis and Mrs. Wanda Wolfe of Panama City, Fla., Mrs. Cecil Bullard of Newton, Mrs. Mary Crosby of Camilla; five sons, B. L. Sawyer of Sylvester, Lemuel Sawyer of Charing, F. G. Sawyer of Lakeland; B. E. Sawyer of Camilla and J. A. Sawyer of Griffin. Six other children preceded her in death. There are thirty grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren. One brother, A. J. Hays of Lakeland, Fla., also survives, and one sister, Mrs. J. B. Mulford of Albany.
