Obituary of William Alfred West as written on page 5 of "The Camilla 
Enterprise" dated 20 Dec 1957.  Camilla, Georgia.  

William Alford West, 79, of Sale City, passed away Tuesday, December 17th, at 
Mitchell County Hospital, following a lengthy illness.  Funeral services were 
held Wednesday, December 18th, at 3 o'clock from the Sale City Baptist Church 
with the Rev. Otis Glover, the Rev. J. B. Lumpkin and the Rev. Pickren 
officiating.  Interment was in the Sale City Cemetery with Bramlett Funeral 
Home in charge.  Pallbearers were members of the Camilla Masonic Lodge.  Mr. 
West, a member and a deacon of the Sale City Baptist Church was a native of 
Mitchell County.  He was a prominent farmer and a member of the Camilla Masonic 
Lodge.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Black West; three daughters, 
Mrs. Jesse L. Newton of Atlanta, Mrs. Bascom Whitehurst of Adel and Mrs. Elzie 
Hays of Baconton; five sons, Lt. Col. H. H. West of Ft. Dix, N.J., W. Howard 
West of Sale City, Pierce West and Jack West, both of Atlanta, and Don West of 
Valdosta; one sister, Mrs. K. D. Phelps of Camilla; eleven grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews.
