Jacob The State VS Henry Sullivan Freedman Larceny from the house Continued The State VS James Parker, Freedman Larceny from the House Plead guilty July term County Court 1866 The State VS James Parker, Free person Larceny from the house and Plea of Guilty The defendant James Parker a free person having filed a plea of guilty in the above stated case it is ordered by the court that defendant be taken from the bar of this court to the common jail of said county where he shall be safely kept until turned over to the justices of the inferior court of said county and in case said justices of said court upon the recommendation of the grand jury organize p.26 a chain gang in and for the county of Monroe then it is ordered by the court that the said defendant be placed in custody of said court to be employed in said chain gang for and during the space of nine months and in default of said chain gang being organized it is further ordered that said defendant be sent under sufficient guard to be punished by the governor of this state by whom said defendant shall be kept at constant and diligent employment on the public works of this state as the governor may direct for said space of nine months and at the expiration of said time to be discharged. Cabaniss, solicitor general July term 1866, Monroe County Court The defendant having been tried and found guilty it is therefore ordered and adjudged that the defendant do pay a fine of twenty dollars and all costs of prosecution and be then discharged. Jacob, JCC Court then adjourned until to ???? no page number Special Term July 17, 1867 The State VS William Gary, Freedman Assault and Battery Upon hearing the testimony of the witnesses in the case of the State versus William Gary charged with the offence of assault and battery, and considering the same, the Court finds the defendant guilty of assault. Whereupon it is adjudged by the Court that the defendant, William Gary do pay a fine of eleven dollars and forty cents and costs of prosecution and thence be discharged. By the court, T. O. Jacob, JCC In the above case, William Gary the defendant, in open court declares that he waives an indictment or presentment by a grand jury and arraignment trial by a petit jury and consents that the county judge may hear and determine the case in which the defendant stands charged with the offense of assault and battery.
