This indenture made this September 14th day of Our Lord One Thousand and Eight Hundred and fifty three between Jarrett Thomas of Monroe County in the State of Georgia of the one part and Jonathan Ball, George Letson, W. P. Spruce, R. H. Brown, Jordan Bridges, James Harper, David Letson trustees of Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal Church South in same county of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jarrett Thomas hath Demised leased and Set and by these presents doth demise lease and Set unto the Said Jonathan Ball, George Letson, W. P. Spruce, R. H. Brown, Jordan Bridges, James Harper, David Letson and their successors for the time being all that piece or parcel of land containing two acres with Meeting House there on known by the name of Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal Church South adjoining the road leading from Jackson to Liberty Hill and from High Falls to Griffin (cannot read word) Said land is part or parcel of lot #916 in the 3rd District of Monroe County aforesaid together with all the rights and priveledges to the same belonging to have and to hold the said land and building hereby demised together with their ( unable to read word) unto the said Jonathan Ball, George Letson, W. P. Spruce, R. H. Brown, Jordan Bridges, James Harper, David Letson and their Successors in office for the time being so long as the same may be wanted for the purpose of a House of Divine Worship by the said Methodist Episcopal Church South and it is hereby agreed between the Said parties hereto that if Said house should not be used by the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and as a place of Divine Worship for the space of two years that then this demised that this demise shall cease and ( cannot read word) but the said trustees or their successors at any time during the said two years shall be at liberty and (cannot read next two words) the meeting house or School house erected on the said demised land And it is hereby further declared and agreed between the Said parties hereto that the premises hereby demised or any part thereof or the building now or here after erected theron Shall not be Sublet or assigned to any person or to any other Denomination of Christians and also that no house, Store or other buildings shall be erected on the Said premises other than a meeting house and School house hall without the consent in writing of the Said Jarrett Thomas his heirs or assigns first obtained for that purpose if the said Jonathan Ball, George Letson, W. P. Spruce, R. H. Brown, Jordan Bridges, James Harper, David Letson or their successors in office for time being Shall Sublet or assign the Said demised premises or any parts there of to any other Denomanation of Christiams or to any other person or persons whom so ever or shall erect or permit or suffor to be erected on the said demised land any house , store or other buildings other than a meeting house and School (cannot read word) that then and from henceforth this land and every claim made and and existing herein contained shall cease (cannot read word) and be (cannot read word) void and the said Jarrett Thomas, his heirs and assigns shall and may immediately afterwards enter on the said demised premises and all erection and buildings there on as and for his own use any(cannot read rest of word) herein to (cannot read word) herein notwithsanding.
