Subject: Sale of property of John Hamlin to The Georgia Episcopal Institute and 
 Christ College 


State of Georgia                                                                Monroe County 
This indenture made the twenty ninth day of December
in the year of our lord one thousand and eight hundred
and fourty between John Hamlin of the county of Monroe
of one part and John Macphesion Be????, Wm. B.
Bullock, Anthony Barton, Robert Habersham, Wm. P,
Hunter, Edw. F. Campbell, Thomas M. Nelson, Thom ?
Parmelege, Nathan C. Monroe, Ambrose Baber, Nathan
Barker, J. H. ?couper?, Richard Alsop, and the Bishop
of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocess of
Georgia, trustees of the Georgia Episcopal Institute
and Christ College, all of the state of Georgia of the
other part, Witnesseth that the said John Hamlin for
and in consideration of the sum of one thousand six
hundred dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing
and delivering of these presents, the reciept where of
is hereby acknowledged, does grant, bargain, sell,
alien, convey and confirm unto the said John
Macpherson Ber??, Wm. B. Bullock, Anthony Barton,
Robert Habersham, Wm. P, Hunter, Edw. F. Campbell,
Thomas M. Nelson, Thom ? Parmelege, Nathan C. Monroe,
Ambrose Baber, Nathan Barker, J. H. ?couper?, Richard
Alsop, and the Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal
Church in the Diocess of Georgia, trustees of the
Georgia Episcopal Institute and Christ College their
substitutes or successors all that parcel of land
lying in the county of Monroe and distinguished  as
lot No.four in the thirteenth district containing two
hundred acres and two five half acres more or less in
that lot more or less.

To have and to hold the said parcels of land, with all
and singular the rights, ????, and appurtnances
thereunto appertaning to the only proper use benefit
and behoof of the above named trustees of " The
Georgia Episcopal Institute and Christ College, their
substitutes, and successors in Fee Simple, and the
said Matthew Lasseter the said bargained promises and
land unto the above named Trustees of " The Georgia
Institute and Christ College" thier substitutes or
successors against the said Matthew Lasseter his heir,
executor, or administration and against all and every
person or persons shall and will warrant--- and
forever defend by these premises.

In witness whereof the said John Hamlin has hereunto
set hand and affixed his seal and delivered these
presents the day and year first above written. Signed
