     Members of the Means-Thurmond families met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 
J. T. Means in Redbone district.  One hundred and six members of the two 
families were present.
     All five of the surviving children of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Means 
were present, Mr. F. M. Means, Mrs. E. A. Thurmond, Atlanta, Mrs. W. C. 
Franklin, Thomaston, Mr. J. T. Means and Mrs. R. B. Hamlin, Barnesville.
     Eight of the eleven surviving children of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. 
Thurmond of Forsyth, were present, Mrs. J. T. Means, Mrs. R. B. Hawkins, 
Barnesville, Mr. G. L. Thurmond, Thomaston, Dr. Tom Thurmond, , Messrs. Frank 
Thurmond, J. M. Thurmond, Misses Vivian and Ethel Thurmond, Forsyth.
     Ten children of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Means were present, Mrs. Tom Futch, 
Rochelle, Mrs. W. H. Burch, Thomasville, Mr. W. H. Means and Mrs. Herman 
Bankston, Atlanta, Messrs. Berner Means and William Means, Misses Hermie and 
Kola [sic; should be Cola] Means, Mrs. Ed Keadle, Mrs. Homer Sappington, 
Barnesville, Mr. P. A. Means of Atlanta, was unable to attend.
     At noon a barbeque and basket dinner was served under a large oak in the 
spacious yard of the home.  Pictures of the various family groups were made.  
This was the 51st anniversary year of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. 
Meanss [sic].  A large cake was presented to them by their children.
     In the afternoon, games, contests and conversation were enjoyed. --
