March 20, 1885 issue of the Monroe Advertiser, local 
paper for Monroe County, Forsyth, Ga. 

Mr. Alexander Perkins of Monroe County is
ninety-two years old.  He has always borne a
reputation for being a first-class citizen. 
Although four score and ten his memory is
clear and he is as active as many men at
fifty, and looks as young as his son, Lee
Perkins of the same County.  He was a little
hurt last Saturday when our Tom Burney
offered to assist him in his buggy.  He
needed no assistance.  - Macon Telegraph
Mr. Perkins is only one of Monroe County's
specimens of longevity.
