Bryan, Tampa Lawyer 30 Years, Dies Edwin Langston Bryan, 76, of 210 Cedar Ave., Tampa attorney for 30 years and senior member of the law firm of Bryan & Bryan, died yesterday afternoon as a result of a heart seizure suffered during a court hearing a week ago. Mr. Bryan began the practice of law after home study in Forsythe [sic], Ga., and was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1896. He came to Tampa in 1916 from Moultrie, Ga. and practiced here continuously since. His son, Charles W. Bryan, joined the firm in 1937. He was a member of Bay Lodge No. 12, Knight of Pythias, and of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lucy Thurmond Bryan; a sister, Mrs. James Burden, of Macon, Ga.; four sons, W. Lester Bryan, of St. Petersburg; Edwin T. Bryan, of Miami, and Frank M. Bryan, and Charles W. Bryan, of Tampa; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional Comments: Edwin Langston Bryan was born 20 August 1870. On 17 March 1891, he married Lucy Alice Thurmond, the daughter of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond. Edwin and Lucy Bryan are buried at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida.
