W. Green Dead On Monday night last, Mr. Geo. W. Green of this city passed away after a lingering illness of many months. Mr. Green had resided in this city for many years and was well known in this section. For a number of years he was constable of this district and served as a lobby bailiff in the Superior and City courts, and was perhaps as widely acquainted as any man residing here. For the past year or two Mr. Greene has been confined almost constantly to his home. He was laid to rest in Oakland cemetery last Tuesday. Additional Comments: George Washington Greene m. Sara Frances Thurmond on 14 January 1869 in Monroe Co., GA. She was the oldest child of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond. Both are buried in Oakland Cemetery, which is now called the Forsyth City Cemetery, in Monroe Co., GA.
