Daniel Ponder, Esq., one of the first settlers and oldest inhabitants of this 
county died at his residence on the 6th inst., aged 73 years and six days.  
Born in the eighteenth century, he lived in the best age of the world, and saw 
American prosperity rise to the zenith of its glory, and his sun of life went 
down shortly after the decay of the mighty Government, every phase of which he 
witnessed. --Monroe Advertiser, 12th.
