Miss Julia Thurmond of Forsyth died at the home of her mother Mrs. W. H. Thurmond, early Sunday morning Jan. 28th. She was a sister of Mrs. Lee Hawkins of Barnesville and also of Mrs. Chambliss. The funeral services were conducted at her mother's home, Monday Jan. 29, 2:00 p.m. by her partor [sic], Rev. H. D. Pace, assisted by Rev. W. E. Arnold, her former pastor. The text used by her pastor was Rev. 14:18 "Yea Saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors." The body was laid to rest in the family burying ground immediately in front of the residence of the deceased. The large crowd present attested to the popularity of the young lady. The old must die, the young can die. Additional Comments: Julia was the daughter of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Sallie Catherine (Buff) Thurmond. While her obituary does not indicate that she ever married, she married Arthur A. Harp on 22 February 1900 Monroe Co., GA.
