E. THURMOND DIES AT HIS HOME IN ATLANTA Mr. W. E. Thurmond died Monday night at his residence in Atlanta. He was for a number of years a citizen of Forsyth, having moved from here to Atlanta within the past year. He was a member of one of the prominent families of the county and leaves many friends and relatives in Monroe to mourn his passing. Mr. Thurmond is survived by his widow; five sons, W. D., Jr., T. E., C. E., L. E. and W. C. Thurmond; two daughters, Misses Mary and Esther Thurmond. He is survived also by six sisters and eight brothers, among whom are Messrs. W. D., J. M., G. F. and T. D. Thurmond, well known citizens of Monroe county. Funeral services and interment were in Atlanta. Additional Comments: Warren Edward Thurmond was born 7 Aug. 1854, the son of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond. He married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Means on 16 December 1884 in Monroe Co., GA. She was the daughter of James Anderson Means and Elizabeth Ann (Allen) Means. W. E. and Lizzie Thurmond are buried at Eastview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
