Growing of vegetables was one of Dr. Thurmond's hobbies. His body was found among the plants that he had tended so carefully. He was born in Forsyth, Ga., but had been in Columbus for 31 years, and during that time had followed his profession. Dr. Thurmond is survived by his wife; two sons, Roy H. Thurmond, of Columbus, and Walter L. Thurmond, of Atlanta; five brothers, George Thurmond of Crest, Ga; Thomas D. Thurmond of Forsyth, Ga; G.F. Thurmond of Forsyth; J.M. Thurmond of Forsyth; and C.A.
