G. F. Thurmond Passes Monday
     Funeral services for George Franklin Thurmond, aged 89, esteemed Monroe 
county citizen, who died early Monday at his home at Brent, Monroe county, 
were held Tuesday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bramblett Funeral Home.  
The services were conducted by the Rev. E. L. Tabor, and interment was made in 
the Rocky Creek cemetery.
     The deceased is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Nancy 
Goodrum; three brothers, C. A., of Perry; George and Dr. T. D. Thurmond, both 
of Griffin; four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Bryan, of Tampa, Florida; Mrs. J. T. Means 
and Mrs. George Hawkins, both of Barnesville, and Mrs. Vivian Johnson, of 
Forsyth.

Additional Comments:
George Franklin Thurmond was born 5 February 1857 in Monroe Co., GA, the son 
of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond.  Frank 
married Mrs. Nancy "Nannie" Permella Goodrum Maddox on 4 January 1922 in 
Monroe Co., GA.
