HAWKINS' MOTHER DIES Mrs. Sallie Thurmond, mother of Mrs. R. E. Lee Hawkins, died at Lenoia [Lenoir?] City, Tenn., early Monday morning and the body was carried to Forsyth and buried there Tuesday. Mrs. Hawkins had been with her mother this week before but had returned home. She went to Lenoia again Monday and accompanied the body, with other relatives, to Forsyth. Mrs. Thurmond was a noble, christian woman, and had reared a large family, the members of which are known and esteemed throughout this section. Mrs. Hawkins and the other relatives will have the sympathy of the people of the community in their sorrow. Additional Comments: Sara Catherine Buff was born 14 October 1843 in Houston Co., GA, the daughter of Daniel W. Buff and Mary A. (Smith) Buff. She married the widower of her first cousin (Amanda Jane Buff Thurmond), William Harrison Thurmond Jr., on 25 March 1874 in Houston Co., GA.
