marble slabs. We feel very grateful to your kind husband for his very kind 
offer and as soon as we can get the money will send it to him to get tomb 
stones for our dear ones grave, but tis almost impossible to get any money at 
all here. Rebels are almost crushed in the lower counties. They are still 
driving them from their homes, and we know not how soon such may be the case 
here. My sister J. P. Vance who is at my Father's near us sends her respects 
to you & Miss Lizzie Sneed. My love to Miss Lizzie, the same for yourself.
