Thomas was born 26 MAR 1846 in Alabama, the son of Merrell Gray and Minerva Cooper. He migrated to Monroe County approximately 1865. In 1868 he married Lula Spicer (daughter of Alexander Spicer and Mary Ann Perdue), and moved to Smarr, Monroe County, GA. On 16 DEC 1867 William Alexander Gray was born. Willie married Pallie Harrison in 1892.
