Item 1: I give my soul to God who it is hoping for a blessed immortality through the atonement of a blessed Resurrection, my body to be buried in a Christian like manner. Item 2: I will and desire that my just debts be paid without delay by my executors hereinafter named. Item 3: I have heretofore given to each of my children by my first marriage, to wit, Elizabeth Glover, Polly Taylor Dempsey Noble, Jeremiah Taylor, Susan King, Charlotte Dumas, Tabitha Kinsley, and John W. I. Taylor the sum of two thousand and twenty-five dollars in property and money with the exception of my son Jeremiah to who I have given only seventeen hundred and thirty-nine dollars and to make his share equal with the rest of his brothers and sisters above mentioned I given unto him the sum of two hundred and eighty-six dollars which sum I have offered to give him but he has refused to accept it and should he refuse to accept when tendered to him by my executors then my will and desire is that the same be equally divided between my other children above mentioned and in addition to what I have heretofore given to my above named children, I hereby will and desire that my lower plantation composed of three hundred and eighteen acres more or less being parts of lots number (207) two hundred and seven, (208) two hundred and eight (215) two hundred and fifteen (227) two hundred and twenty-seven and lot number two hundred and sixteen to be sold by my executors at public auction and the proceeds arising from the same I give and bequeath to my above mentioned children share and share alike and should my son Jeremiah refuse to accept any part of the same then I desire that his proportionate part shall be equally divided between his brothers and sisters above mentioned and which bequest is in full of any and all interest share or legacy that either of my above named children have in my estate. Item 4th: I desire, give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Cynthia Taylor and to the children we have had borne unto us and such as we may hereafter have born to us the house and plantation whereon I now reside containing three hundred and fifty-four acres more or less, composed of lot number (194) one hundred and ninety-four, and part of lot number (206) two hundred and six in the fifth district of said country together with the following named negroes and their future increase to wit: Allen, a man aged about forty-five Peter, a man aged about thirty Mose, a man aged about thirty Sampson, a man aged about thirty Dave aged about eighteen Bob, a boy aged about sixteen Green, a boy aged about fourteen Fletcher, a boy three years Allen, a boy three years Fanny, a woman aged about forty-two Harriet, a woman aged about nineteen Milly, a girl aged about ten Harriet, a girl aged about twelve Line, a girl aged about fifteen Chane, a girl aged about twelve Martha, a girl aged six years Lola, a girl about twelve years of age Emma, a girl aged about sixteen Rachel, a woman aged about twenty Sarah, a girl aged about six years Amy, a woman aged about fifty Perlina, a woman aged about forty-eight Toney, a man aged about sixty years Clarke, a boy aged (14) fourteen months Mary Jane, a girl aged about three months, and Billy, a boy aged three months together with all my provisions, crops growing or matured, plantation tools of every kind, household and kitchen furniture and every other species or kind of property whatever that I may die seized and possessed of all of which property I desire should be kept together for the maintenance of my said wife, Cynthia and the maintenance and education of our children until our oldest son arrives at age or our daughter marries on the happening of either my desire is that executors assign by lot or otherwise and pay over to such son or daughter a proportionate and equal share of my estate and so on until each becomes of age or marries and should my wife Cynthia marry then my executor will pay over to her an equal distributive share of said estate as would be paid to one of our children as aforesaid to be hers forever. None of my elder children mentioned in the third item are to have or receive any of the property mentioned in this item. Item 5th: I appoint my beloved wife Cynthia executrix and David R. Tinsley executors of this my last will and testament this the fifteenth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty-two.
