(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net August 28, 2011, 1:36 pm The Montgomery Monitor 10-15-1936 Front Page Mr. Lester Canady Died Early Monday Morning Mr. Lester Canady, fifty-one years of age, and well known Montgomery County farmer, died early Monday morning at his home, eight miles north of Mt. Vernon. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis, following a decline in health over a period of several months. Deceased was reared in Emanuel County but had resided in Montgomery County for the past thirty years as a leader in his community. Mr. Canady was a progressive citizen and had many friends and relatives who will mourn his passing. He is survived by his wife and three children, Elmer, the son and Mrs. Dan Waller and Miss Blondel Canady, the daughters. Brothers are Messrs. Claude and Harley Canady, sisters are Mrs. George M. Pollett, Mrs. O. E. Braddy, Mrs. Toler Braddy, and Mrs. Hughey Whitaker of Kibbee and Tarrytown communities. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Canady and was prominently connected with several of the older Emanuel County familes. The funeral service was held Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Pope Hulett of Tarrytown and interment in the Braddy cemetery near Kibbee. Additional Comments: Lester was born 21 Sep 1886 to James Berrien Canady and Ophelia B. Kemp Canady.
