                         Van D. Carroll Sr.
 Services for Van David Carroll Sr., 66, of 709-A Brantley Homes, Dublin, will 
be held at 11am Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Twiggs County. The Rev. 
Houston Berry will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
 A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Carroll lived in Cochran most of his life 
before moving to Dublin four years ago. He was a retired farmer, an Army 
veteran of World War II, and a Baptist. Mr. Carroll died Tuesday at his 
residence.
 Survivors include two sons, Van David Carroll Jr. and Ronald Wayne Carroll, 
both of Macon; a daughter, Martha Grimsley of Macon; three stepsons, Charles 
F. Summerday of Lemon Grove, Calif., Jerry P. Summerday of Lexington Park, Md. 
and Phillip D. Summerday of Macon; two sisters, Era Dorsey of Dublin and Laura 
Harper of Barmesville; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
 The body will be placed in the church at 10am Thursday to remain until the 
funeral hour.
 Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Mathis Funeral Home in 
Cochran.
