He was born in Montgomery County, served on the Montgomery County Commission and was operator of Shot Gun Coleman's Catering Service. He was a farmer and member of Woodmen of the World. He retired after 33 years as a schoolbus driver for Montgomery County, was a former deputy sheriff of Treutlen and Montgomery counties and was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Connell Coleman of Mount Vernon; a son, Gary Coleman of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Stephens and Miss Debra Coleman, both of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Barrs of Dexter, Mrs. Joan Claxton of Soperton, and Mrs. Louise Gowan of Folkston; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Thursday at the Tarrytown Baptist Church with burial on the church cemetery. Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton is in charge.
