                       Last Rites For Ivey Gillis, 64
 Ivey Gillis, 64, Route 1 Ailey, died in a Vidalia hospital Friday morning, 
January 8th. He was a son of the late John Franklin Gillis and Mrs. Georgia 
Catherine Morris Gillis. He had lived in Monrgomery County for most of his 
life.
 Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Bertha Mae Foskey; four sons, 
John F., Alec, M. D., and M. B. Gillis, Greenville, Fla.; six daughters, Mrs. 
Henry McDaniel and Mrs. Lonnie McDaniel, both of Soperton, Mrs. Salem Thigpen 
and Mrs Dennis Brantley, both of Ailey, Mrs. Lillian Edge and Mrs. Arthur 
Cragg, Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Gillis, New Myrna Beach, Fla. and 
Willie Gillis, Soperton; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Powell of Soperton and Mrs. 
Charlie Peterson of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; 33 grandchildren and 9 great-
grandchildren.
 Funeral services were conducted at three o'clock Sunday, January 10th, from 
the Red Bluff Baptisat Church with the Rev. Joe Flowers and the Rev. Jessie 
Wall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home, 
Soperton, in charge of arrangements.

Ivey was born abt May 1895.
