Sammons VIDALIA, Ga. -- Funeral services for Jim W. Sammons, 68 of Uvalda, were conducted in the Uvalda Baptist Church yesterday with the Rev. W. A. Duncan and the Rev. P. L. Denton officiating. Burial was in Dead River Cemetery. Mr. Sammons died Saturday in a Macon hospital. He was a native of Johnson County, a farmer, and a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nira McCoy Sammons, Uvalda; a son, Claude Sammons, Uvalda; three sisters, Mrs. G. J. Tison (Tyson) of Macon, Mrs. S. W. Perdue of Batesburg, SC, and Mrs. Mattie Odom of Augusta; and one brother, J. M. Sammons of Wadley. Additional Comments: Jim was born 7 Sep 1888. Georgia death certificate #17962. His parents were William M. "Uncle Billy" Sammons and Fannie Sefronia "Fronie" Dixon Sammons who are buried in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Soperton, Ga.
