Mrs. Sammons was born in Johnson County and had been a resident of Montgomery County for 50 years. Her parents were the late William A. McCoy and Mrs. Sally Brooks McCoy. She was married to the late Jim Sammons and was a member of the Uvalda Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Claude Sammons of Uvalda; one brother, J. J. McCoy of Tampa; six sisters, Mrs. Clifford Dixon of Wrightsville, Mrs. Dewey Waller and Mrs. Pearl Denton of Brunswick, Mrs. L. E. Hester and Mrs. Ezra Monton of hazlehurts, and Mrs. Noel Denton of Savannah; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at three o'clock Sunday in Uvalda Baptist Church with the Rev. W. D. Johnson and the Rev. J. P. Quattlebaum officiating. Burial was in Dead River Cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Nira was born 1 Mar 1890. Georgia death certificate #026045. Her husband, Jim Sammons is also buried in Dead River as well as her parents.
