The lifelong resident of Montgomery County was a retired construction worker and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula G. Thigpen of Mount Vernon; five daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Poole of Newton, Mrs. Grace Baker of Glenwood, Mrs. Lula Mae Montford and Mrs. Earline Prickett, both of Alamo, and Mrs. Betty Bridges of Dublin; two sons, Robert C. Thigpen of Mount Vernon and Billy Thigpen of Glenwood; a brother, Lonnie Thigpen of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Katie Leatherman of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Vernon Myers and Mrs. Nell Jones, both of Macon; 21 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 3pm Wednesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church, burial in Mount Vernon City Cemetery. Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home of Glenwood.
