                         Salem Thigpen
 MOUNT VERNON--- Salem Thigpen, 66, died Monday at home after a long illness.
 The lifelong resident of Montgomery County was a retired construction worker 
and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.
 Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula G. Thigpen of Mount Vernon; five daughters, 
Mrs. Kathleen Poole of Newton, Mrs. Grace Baker of Glenwood, Mrs. Lula Mae 
Montford and Mrs. Earline Prickett, both of Alamo, and Mrs. Betty Bridges of 
Dublin; two sons, Robert C. Thigpen of Mount Vernon and Billy Thigpen of 
Glenwood; a brother, Lonnie Thigpen of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Katie 
Leatherman of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Vernon Myers and Mrs. Nell Jones, both 
of Macon; 21 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
 Funeral: 3pm Wednesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church, burial in Mount Vernon 
City Cemetery.

Salem was born 26 Jan 1922 to Wiley Robert Thigpen Sr. and Carrie B. 
Smallpiece Thigpen. Georgia death certificate #032289.
