Mincey (b. Aug 5, 1865 - d. Aug 2, 1930) — of Ailey, Montgomery County, Ga. Republican. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Georgia, 1912, 1920. He was a leader in his community respected for his leadership. He was instrumental in having a Rosenwald School in Ailey. This school is eligible for National Preservation Designation. We would like to contact any alums or teachers who may have attended this school. It is currently used as a Community Center. Julius Rosenwald, Chicago philantropist and president of Sears, Roebuck and Company, developed a foundation that aided the construction of over 5,000 buildings in 15 southern states for African American youth in the early 1900s. The first Rosenwald Fund grant went to Booker T. Washington for a rural African American school near Tuskegee Institute. With these grants more than 242 schools were constructed in Georgia.
