He settled in Liberty Co. about 1790. When Bulloch was created he was cut into it, and lived there until about 1812. It appeares he was again cut into the new County of Emanuel. He lived there until 1824. He then moved to the new Co. of Ware for one year when it was first formed. He then moved to Lowndes Co. near Troupville for about two years from 1825-1827, and then moved to Leon Co. FL. He homesteaded lands in Leon until his death in 1834. He can be found on the 1830 census of Leon Co. FL. The 1830 census of Leon County shows he owned seven slaves, four men and three women. He died intestate in Leon County Florida. His widow was appointed administrated of his estate and qualified June 5, 1834. The home place of Mr Johnson in Leon Co. was on 160 acrs being portions of section 22 and 27 township 1, Leon Co. He leased this property for ten years to his son Young A. Johnson. On March 26, 1834. See deed book D Page 212 in Leon County . Mr Johnson died between that date and June 5, 1834. on which date his widow qualified as administrix. Shortly there after she conveyed her interest in the land to Young A. and she took personal property in satifaction of her share of the estate as shown by instrutment of record. Will: Leon County, Florida Deed Book D Page 135 Territory Of Florida, Leon County I David Johnson being of sound mind but in a low state of health, and knowing that all men must dye, do this day freely give in this deed to the heirs of my beloved son Young Johnson after my death a certain Negro woman by the name of Lucy, her children Neis, Peter, Moses and Hanner her increases after this, they are to be kept by him after my death by the said Young Johnson. Moreover, I do give and bequeath to the said Young Johnson my dwelling house and Kitchen furniture and working tools, also five cows and calves. I also do give and bequeath a certain Negro man Clint and a feather bed and furniture belonging to said head to my beloved son Joseph Johnson on after my death. I do also give and bequeath a certain yellow Negro woman call Dinah to my beloved daughter Martha Sirman after my death. I do also give and bequeath a certain Negro woman called Flora to my beloved son David Johnson after my death. I do further give and bequeath to the remainder of my beloved children all of the remainder of my stock of cattle after my beloved son Young Johnson gets his five cows and calves out of my stock. I do give and bequeath the above named cattle to my beloved daughters Risa Register, Amelia Wilks, Lavina Mosely and Mary Jones. I have already given as much as I do consider to be write to my other two beloved children, John A. Johnson and Elizabeth Rich. Witt: David Johnson Allen Skipper 19th March 1834 Benjamin Skipper Recorded 14th April Nathan Powell 1834 Additional Comments: David Johnson was living in South Carolina ( Old Cheraw ) during the Revolutionary War and served with the South Carolina Milita. David Johnson served under Phil M. Waters troops, Col. Myddleton's Regiment and Genersl Sumpter's Brigade for 10 months. Stub entries to indents for Revolutionary War claims, Book L-N, No. 512 Lib M. He requested his Captain be paid his indent. Phil M. Waters was from Abbeville and Laurens Counties, South Carolina as Captain and then as Colonel. 1781 - SC, Record of his RW service can be found in SC "Book O-Q, pg. 237 Stub Entries to Indents" where he was paid for fifty two days service 1781 in the SC milita.
