Know all men by these presents that I, William King, for and in 
consideration of the sum of three hundred and ninety five dollars to me 
in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents 
by John Taylor of Morgan County, planter, the receipt whereof I do 
hereby acknowledge have granted and sold and by these presents do 
bargain, sell and deliver unto the said John Taylor, one negro man name 
Thomas to have and to hold.  Negro man Tom and the said executors, 
administrators and afsigns to his and their own ____ ____ use and 
behoof forever and I the said William King my heirs, executors and 
administrators the said ____ promises unto the said John Taylor 
executors, administrators and afsigns from and against all persons 
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In 
witnefs whereof I have herewith set and seal.  Dated Savannah the sixth 
day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 
seventeen and in the forty first year of the independence of the United 
States of America.
